Create a web about your current book club book. Below is an example of one done for Shakespeare Bats Clean-up.

Use the free program Bubbl.us.

Bubble.us is a free program. However, you may want to register as a member so you can save your work. This will require an email address. Please make sure this is okay with your parents before you register.

Follow the directions on the website to create your web. Decide what you will put in the center of your web: the book's title, the main character's name, the book's major theme, etc. Then connect items to the center. Include explanations on the lines or in the bubbles.

Due to size limits, your web will probably have room for 20-30 items total. I'm looking for quality over quantity. Instead of having a lot of more obvious items, I'd like to see deeper, more thoughtful observations. Shakespeare_bubble.jpg

You can print out your final product and turn it in, or export it as a .jpg and post it to your wikispace. This project is due December 7, so you have one week of school nights to work on it. Please see me if you have any problems with the website. I'll be checking here for questions, too. Please post questions at the bottom of this page.

I'm including a sample web I made so you can see what they look like. This is not A-level work! I'm posting it only so you can see what a Bubbl.us web looks like.

This is a 70% project in English.

I'll be scoring projects as follows:

Completed projects that do not demonstrate an understanding of the book beyond what could be found on the back cover will earn a score of 1.

To earn a score of 2 your web should demonstrate an accurate understanding of the book's plot.

To earn a score of 3 your web should demonstrate a clear understanding of the book with some insight into the book's characters and plot.

To earn a score of 4 your web should demonstrate an insightful understanding of the book's themes, characters, and the author's writing style along with the plot.

If this isn't A-level work, then what is it? Also, do you have any A-level work that we can see so that we get an idea of what something A-level would look like?
-Caitlin

Follow the rubric. Think about your book. Work with your group. Use all the functions on the bubbl.us site that you can figure out to show your understanding of the book. I'd like to see your thoughts and ideas. I want to see what you can come up with. Mr. Chester

Do connections count as the 20-30 thingy ma bobber.

They count as part of the overall project. You should use them to explain what you're saying about the book. But aim for 20+ bubbles. Mr. Chester

Mr.Chester,
Does the entire web have to be connected? Mine has two yellows that are not connected.(the topics)

Take a look at Katie's bubbl.us for Maze Runner and at the one Iris did for Kidnapped. Mr. Chester

Mr. Chester,
Can you take a look at mine (here) and tell me if it's too small to read? If it is, I can print one out and bring it to school. -Chloe

Are we going to be doing any more bubbl.us projects? They're really fun! I've already finished mine.
-Dana J.

If you can make the print size large, that's the best way to go. However, I can use the zoom function in my browser to look at small print. Mr. Chester
